A practical day-by-day guide for wound care, sitz baths, movement, diet, and warning signs after fistula treatment.
The first week after fistula surgery is focused on pain control, drainage care, hygiene, and soft bowel movements.
Day 1-2: rest, take prescribed medicines, drink enough fluids, and follow dressing instructions. Mild drainage can be expected, but increasing fever, severe swelling, or uncontrolled pain needs medical review.
Day 3-7: keep walking gently, continue sitz baths if advised, avoid straining, and keep stools soft with diet and prescribed stool softeners. Attend follow-up visits until the surgeon confirms healing is on track.
